Re: Possible internal parasites in new royal grammas

I'm starting to think the only issue here is an overanxious aquarist. My royal gramma's belly is looking better already, and I've finally spotted some normal-looking poop. Just a friendly reminder, though: QT is crucial, and I feel pretty lucky to have dodged a bullet this time.

I've come across ...

Possible internal parasites in new royal grammas

I recently brought home a royal gramma, and I've noticed its belly looks a bit sunken after just two days. The good news is it's eating well, even taking flake food, which is a great sign. However, I haven't seen it poop yet, so I'm not sure if internal parasites could be the issue. I know I shouldn ...

Re: Introducing a new fish to a tank with a damsel.

I recently made a purchase, and I'm not entirely sure if my thought process will pan out. I picked up two baby maroon clowns, one's about an inch in length, and the other's slightly larger. My reasoning was that they'd be aggressive enough to coexist with the damsel, and with two of them, the ...

Introducing a new fish to a tank with a damsel.

I've got a blue spotted puffer and a yellow tail damsel in my 29 gallon tank right now, and I'm considering adding another fish. My main concern is how the damsel will react - it's generally pretty shy, but when I had a sixline wrasse in the tank, it did seem to pick on it a bit. The puffer and ...

Re: Acanthophyllia care and troubleshooting

The issue now is finding space for this coral in my tank, as there's only one spot that can accommodate its full size of around 10 inches. I'll have to experiment with adjusting the flow direction or covering it to reduce the flow and see if that makes a difference.

Re: Acanthophyllia care and troubleshooting

The zero readings are due to my chaeto, it's doing its job. Other corals, including acans right next to it, are thriving. I've got some alk testing to do, that's on my list. Flow's probably the main reason it's retracted, but color loss still has me stumped. Not sure what to make of the tiny ...

Re: Acanthophyllia care and troubleshooting

My parameters are currently pH 8.2, nitrates, nitrites, and phosphate are all 0, calcium's around 410, magnesium's 1300, and specific gravity is 1.026. I'm not sure what else is relevant to mention. I've been using Aqua Illumination LEDs and the flow's been pretty low to medium. The color loss ...

Acanthophyllia care and troubleshooting

I've had my acanthophyllia in the tank for around 4-5 months, and lately, it's not extending like it used to and the color's fading. It's still eating fine, I've been feeding it as much as it can handle. Tonight, I turned off the pumps and all that, fed it, and kept an eye on it. After it finished ...
