bacopa caroliniana care: how to thrive without a substrate

Post by steve0 »

hi there

I'm not using substrate, so I'm placing the roots under the mounds of sand instead.
Any better suggestions?

I think there's a misunderstanding here. Steve0, your mounds of sand essentially act as a substratum for your plants. Bacopa, in my experience, grows fairly well on sand or even gravel, and while it can survive floating, it does grow slower compared to being planted. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that this plant is a favorite snack for plant-eating fish, so you might need to take some precautions.
