Bamboo care and maintenance

Post by florapix »

I found a store nearby that sells bamboo for aquariums and I'm considering getting some. What's the deal with bamboo care - is there anything specific I should know. Thanks.

You'll want to make sure not to submerge the bamboo completely in water.

I agree with @luminx, bamboo plants do grow partially out of the water. They're actually pretty nice plants overall.

Some people put them in hang on back filters and they do okay there.

So placing it inside the HOB filter sounds like a great idea - would I just remove the lid and put it in there?

You'd have to take the lid off, yeah, that's right.

Honestly, I'd say skip putting it in the tank, they just get too large and end up toppling over. Growing it in a pot right next to the tank is a better way to go about it.
