Experimenting with green and red root floaters
I've had these plants in my tank for about a month now. Been using straight RO filtered water and adding Seachem Flourish and Flourish Excel. Heard iron supplements can really bring out the red in the roots, so I just added Flourish Iron today. I'm gonna keep an eye out for any color changes. Sorry about the pic, it's a sideways shot looking up.
Re: Experimenting with green and red root floaters
I've got red rooted floaters in a couple of my tanks - a 10-gallon and a 20 long. One's got regular water, the other's got RO filtered water, but both have strong lighting and Fluval stratum substrate. I've been supplying my local fish store with these plants for over a month now, taking half a tank's worth in every time. It's pretty funny, considering the 20 long is barely stocked - just three chili Rasbora and a handful of shrimp - and the 10 gallon's only got a single beta. I'm convinced it's the lighting and substrate that are driving the growth, especially the intense red color on the roots.
