I've had success with Java fern in my 20g tank, it was running a 20w bulb. They're pretty easy to grow as long as you've got slightly harder water, they do need a bit of calcium to thrive.kingrise wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 8:59 am Are you referring to the Zorczon sword? In my experience, I wouldn't recommend keeping a sword in a 5-gallon tank, as it's a bit too cramped for them. I'd suggest considering Anubias, Java Fern, or Anacharis instead - all of which are great options for a smaller tank. Anacharis is actually my go-to choice; it's incredibly easy to care for. I've had great success with it in my own 5-gallon betta tank, where I've paired it with an Anubias plant.

Java ferns are a medium light plant, not something you can just grow with a basic LED kit.

I've got hornwart in my betta tank and it's been a breeze to grow, really low maintenance.
