Scolymia coral dying, what's going wrong
I stopped by my LFS and saw this scoly that's struggling. I'm thinking of trying to save it - is that feasible?

I think you've got a good shot at saving it, but it's worth considering the potential cost. If it's relatively inexpensive, I'd say go for it. Good luck.

I've had a similar experience with my Scoly - I had a minor setback when I forgot to turn on my heater after a water change, and the temp dropped to 72 degrees. Thankfully, my Scoly bounced back quickly once I got the temperature back up. I gave it some LPS food as a precaution and now it's doing great.

Honestly, in Guatemala, all corals are super pricey - a healthy scoly can cost anywhere from $400 to $500 USD. This LFS is asking for $300 for this piece, which is still a bit steep for me.

I was thinking of buying the scoly. It's got a complete mouth, so I figure I can target feed it. Thing is, Scolys here are super pricey, so I'm not sure if it's worth the risk.Florionix wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 4:25 am I've had a similar experience with my Scoly - I had a minor setback when I forgot to turn on my heater after a water change, and the temp dropped to 72 degrees.
