Attention: Aquarium hobbyists,
We're excited to share a research study from the University of Washington that's all about understanding the behaviors of aquarists in the US. As fellow hobbyists, we're eager to hear from you. The survey is quick - just 5 minutes - and asks about the types of organisms you keep, breeding and exchanging, and what you do with unwanted ones.
Your responses are completely confidential and anonymous. Please only participate if you live in the US. We appreciate your time and would love for you to complete the survey as soon as possible.
Thanks for supporting this research.

Re: A research study on forum participation and engagement
I'd consider participating in the survey, but I'm hesitant since it's not hosted directly on the University of Washington's website. The link provided is a third-party site, and I'm not comfortable with that. I don't know what the link actually leads to, despite the text claiming it's the survey.
Re: A research study on forum participation and engagement
The survey's pretty basic, no need to worry about sharing personal info. You only need to provide your email address, everything else is just a simple tick-box exercise. I'm guessing they're trying to get a handle on the issue of unwanted fish being released into natural waterways.

That’s spot on.coltin wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 11:41 am The survey's pretty basic, no need to worry about sharing personal info. I totally get your concerns about the survey link. It's a student-led project, so they don't have the resources to host it on the university's website. That's why they're using a third-party site, which is pretty common for research projects like this.thenoob wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 11:16 am I'd consider participating in the survey, but I'm hesitant since it's not hosted directly on the University of Washington's website. I've filled out the survey and didn't encounter any request for my email address. Having participated in similar surveys over the years, I've never received spam or unwanted emails. In my experience, it's more likely that this site would sell your information than the research surveys I've completed, all of which were related to aquarium-keeping. Most of those surveys didn't ask for my email or other personal details, only my age and sometimes my sex.
This particular survey only asked for a couple of pieces of somewhat personal information - my state of residence and age.
