I'm thinking of setting up a 10-gallon tank and was considering making it a FO tank with some clownfish. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to set up a saltwater tank that small, or if it'll just be a hassle.
Would a clownfish even thrive in a 10-gallon tank? Can I keep just one, and then add some other fish to the mix?

I think a bigger tank is the way to go for saltwater, just because of the water volume - it's more forgiving. You've got more room for error, and that's a big deal when you're starting out.
I'd say clownfish can work in a 10 gallon, but I wouldn't add any other fish. To be honest, I don't even think I'd keep clownfish in a 10 gallon - it's just too small for my taste.
The thing is, once you get into saltwater, you're gonna want more. Trust me, you'll be wishing you had a bigger tank because of all the limitations of a 10 gallon. You'll want to add more fish, more corals, and a bigger tank just gives you more options.

Honestly, I think 20 gallons is the bare minimum for keeping clownfish. If you're dead set on a 10, maybe a goby or two could work, but that's about it.
