lost my scales

Post by coral8 »

I walked in the door today and my six line wrasse swam up to greet me, but I immediately noticed something off. He's got this tiny, pea-sized orange spot on his side - it's super vibrant, like someone literally took a highlighter to him. Normally, he's got two orange stripes in that area, but now they're a deeper, richer orange. I've taken a close look and I don't see any raised edges or scales on the spot itself. He seems fine otherwise, acting completely normal. I'm thinking maybe he just scraped himself on some of the live rock. Any thoughts?

No luck getting him to pose for a shot, huh. It's definitely possible he scraped himself on a rock - wrasses do have a tendency to get scratched up like this, especially since they like to burrow under rocks or in the sand at night. Just make sure he's eating well and let his immune system take care of the rest.

Agreed, as long as he's eating and acting normal I wouldn't be too concerned.

Still fine today, the spot looks the same as it did yesterday. No change, which I'm taking as a good sign. That little guy's appetite is still going strong, and as long as he keeps eating, I'm not too concerned.
