A humbug damselfly in baby stages
A humbug damselfly in baby stages
Just seen some humbugs for sale, tiny, only 2cm long. Would they be a disaster as a last addition to a reef tank or is it a definite no go?
Re: A humbug damselfly in baby stages
I'm not sure if aggression in these fish develops with age, but I do have concerns about adding new tankmates down the line. Once the damsel is established, introducing something new could be a real challenge - I think it'd be pretty unlikely for the newcomer to survive for long.
Re: A humbug damselfly in baby stages
Thanks for the help guys, but I've had a change of heart - just picked up a shoal of chromis instead lol
Re: A humbug damselfly in baby stages
safer option, lol..humbugs are gorgeous, one of my all-time faves, but they do need careful consideration - best with similar-sized sturdy fish or solo, they can be a handful.
Re: A humbug damselfly in baby stages
My chromis venture into the middle of the tank, royal grammas go after them - same with the flame angel. Not sure what's going on, hope things settle down soon.
Re: A humbug damselfly in baby stages
They're just staking their claim, marking territory. My little flame angel's a bit of a troublemaker for this too. Give it a few days, it should settle down. If not, try rearranging your rockwork - it'll force them to create new territories.
Re: A humbug damselfly in baby stages
Thanks buddyboy, it's all settled down now. My valentini puffer's a funny one, thinks he's part of the chromis crew, probably 'cause they were tankmates at the LFS, lol. If I upgrade to a bigger tank, I'd love your input on stocking it.
