Lost my smaller clown fish, was there yesterday eating fine, no marks or anything. Today, he's gone.
No signs of illness or stress on the other fish, water parameters all look good - no ammonia or nitrite, SG is steady at 1.025, barely any nitrate and no phosphate.
I'm thinking maybe the bigger clown and royal gramma were bullying him too much, chasing him off whenever he swam to the left side of the tank. Maybe he was just too stressed out.
Any ideas what could've happened or what I should be looking out for? Watching the other fish closely for any signs of infection, but they all seem perfectly healthy.
Hate losing fish, especially when there's no obvious reason. Only other thing that comes to mind is the evaporation on this tank - I get a lot of it, which might be causing the SG to fluctuate. Clown fish are supposed to be sensitive to changes in SG, and being small, it could've been a problem for him. Not much I can do about it now, but I'm trying to get a second-hand auto top-up unit to sort this out.
missing a clown fish
Re: missing a clown fish
Just found the little guy, he'd jumped out of the tank. Turns out there was a tiny gap in the eggcrate where I've got the skimmer, must've squeezed through there. Poor little fella. Guess that's a lesson learned - double-check your tank's covered, even if you think it's secure.

Fair play, brunobear, glad you found your little mate, what a relief. Had no idea clowns were prone to jumping, that's a valuable lesson learned for all of us, make sure those lids are secure.
