my euphyllia has brown jelly, help!
My Euphyllia started showing brown jelly yesterday. Tank is a 40 gallon, running for 8 months, parameters are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate, salinity at 1.025. Lighting is AI Prime, 8 hours a day. Other corals seem fine. What's the move here?

Brown jelly is sketchy, gotta act fast. First, isolate the Euphyllia if you can. Check flow, too much or too little can mess with it. What's your alk and calcium at? Also, any new additions lately?

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. Brown jelly can spread quickly, so isolation is key. Have you noticed any other corals acting off? Sometimes it's a sign of broader issues. Sending good vibes your way.

Cut the affected part with a clean razor, dip in iodine, and move to QT. Your params look good, but check magnesium too. What's your water change schedule? Also, what's the temp stability like?

Yep, flow's a big one. Had this happen last year when my powerhead died. Alk was all over the place too. You running a skimmer?

Could be bacterial. Try a dip with Revive or CoralRX. Also, how old are your bulbs? Old lighting can stress corals out. Any fish picking at it?

Agree with the dip and QT. Had a torch go down like this, saved half of it. What's your phosphate level? High phosphates can weaken corals. Also, what salt mix you using?

Is the jelly slimy or more like a film? Slimy usually means infection, film could be stress. Any recent changes to feeding or additives? Also, what's your pH at?

Thanks for the tips, everyone. Gonna move it to QT, dip it, and check alk/calcium. Temp is steady at 78, phosphates at 0.03. No new fish, but added a couple of zoa frags last week. Skimmer's running, water changes weekly.

Zoa frags could've brought something in. Dip those too, just in case. How's the flow around the Euphyllia? If it's too direct, might be irritating it. Also, what's your alk sitting at?
