breeding powder blue and flame gourami
breeding powder blue and flame gourami
Powder blue and flame gourami, what a combo. Can we actually breed these two successfully?
Re: breeding powder blue and flame gourami
They're essentially the same species, just varying colors. So, breeding them together is definitely doable. As for the offspring, their coloration could range from powder blue to flame red, or even something entirely in between.

Opaline and powder blue gourami - same or different?
Re: breeding powder blue and flame gourami
Opaline and 3 spot gouramis, specifically Trichopodus trichopterus, are distinct from powder blue gouramis, which are actually a type of dwarf gourami, Trichogaster lalius.
Dwarf gouramis, including the powder blue variety, are known for their colour diversity, ranging from the classic blue and red stripes to the more subdued coflake blue, and even the vibrant flame red.
In contrast, opaline and 3 spot gouramis, belonging to the Trichopodus trichopterus species, typically display blue and yellow hues and tend to grow larger than their dwarf counterparts.

So, would a powder blue gourami and an opaline gourami breed?
Re: breeding powder blue and flame gourami
No they are different species.
Powder blue gouramis, being dwarf gouramis (Trichogaster lalius), will only breed with other dwarf gouramis, regardless of their colour.
Opaline gouramis, on the other hand, are three spot gouramis (Trichopodus trichopterus) and will only breed with other three spot gouramis, again, colour doesn't matter.
