is my stock level excessive
I've got a 103 gal tank, 5x2x1.7ft, internal filter, big external uv sterilizer and a v2 400 skimmer. I'm running it with two dwarf lion fish, a sailfin tang, a maroon clown, a pink cheeked watchman goby, a neon worm goby and a blue damsel. Also got 28kg of live rock, coflake and starfish and a picusion urchin. I'm wondering if I'm overstocked, might get an external filter later but for now, what's the verdict? All water stats are fine but I'm worried about it getting cramped in there.

I'm not entirely sure about the sizes of all your fish, but what does concern me is that as your lionfish grow, they'll likely start eyeing up their tankmates as potential meals. Then, overstocking won't be a problem anymore. I know your lionfish are small now, but don't underestimate them - they can still open their mouths incredibly wide. A peaceful tank like yours can quickly turn into chaos.

the neon worm goby can get to 30cm like an eel, the maroon clown's 5 inch, the sailfin tang's 9inch and yeah the damsel's getting rehomed, the watchman goby's between 3-4 inch at the moment so that should be alright, but still not sure if i'm overstocked, and the tang's size is what's worrying me, it might get too big

I wouldn't call it overstocked, big tank and all. You're near the sweet spot, maybe even room for one or two more. How about a larger non-reef safe wrasse, something from the thalassoma genus?

Would the wrasse eat my coflake though and is there a specific one you're thinking of, not great with latin names. If not, is there another fish that would work, something that wouldn't eat my starfish or urchin either, and would get along with the rest of my stock.

if its reef safe its not gonna bother the coflakesweetie_22 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 1:19 am I've got a 103 gal tank, 5x2x1.7ft, internal filter, big external uv sterilizer and a v2 400 skimmer. i think you're right near the sweet spot for stocking, maybe even could handle another fish or two but i'm still worried about the tang getting too big and the lionfish eating the others, what do you think about a larger fish that's reef safe, not sure about the latin names thoughsweetie_22 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 1:19 am I've got a 103 gal tank, 5x2x1.7ft, internal filter, big external uv sterilizer and a v2 400 skimmer.
