keeping midas blennies and mandarin fish

Post by kodarix8 »

Hi,

I'm excited to share that my new Oceanix Tank is finally up and running. My pair of H.Reidi should be making the move from their current tank in about a week's time.

The new tank is a decent size, 24"x16"x19" high, which works out to roughly 120 litres. I'm planning to house my pair of Oceanix's in there, and in about six months, I'll be adding my Mandarin. I'm holding off on adding it too soon, as I want to ensure there's a sufficient pod population for it to thrive.

I've been considering adding a Flame Hawkfish, but I'm really keen on getting a group of Peppermint shrimp instead. I had a bit of a disaster with Aiptasia taking over my current Oceanix tank, and I don't want a repeat of that. Three Peppermint shrimp might be a good number.

I visited a LFS recently and came across Midas Blennies, which were absolutely captivating. I've been doing some research, and most people seem to have success keeping them with seahorses. However, I've also read that Blennies can be aggressive towards other Blennies and fish with similar body shapes. This got me wondering - would a Midas Blenny be likely to attack my Mandarin?

Thanks
