Java Moss is a great starter. It's practically indestructible. I've even seen it grow in tanks with zero ferts and minimal light. Just tie it to some driftwood or rocks and let it do its thing.

Another thing to consider is water flow. Some plants don't like strong currents. If your HOB is creating too much movement, try redirecting the flow or adding a sponge to dampen it.

True about flow. My Amazon Swords melted when I had too much current. Moved them to a quieter spot and they bounced back. Also, make sure you're not over-cleaning the tank. A bit of mulm is good for plants.

Yeah, I stopped vacuuming the substrate so much and my plants got way happier. Fish waste is basically free fertilizer. Just don't let it get out of hand or you'll have other problems.

If you're still struggling, try a plant-specific substrate like ADA Amazonia. It's pricey but worth it. My tank's been thriving since I switched, and I barely need to dose ferts anymore.
