Kribs have spawned.

Post by bronco5 »

Looking for some advice, folks... I've set up another tank, fancied a pair of kribs, and now they've spawned - around 50-75 fry. Got cardinals and cories in there too, so my question is, do I remove the other fish or just let them all get on with it? Both kribs are guarding the fry pretty aggressively, as you'd expect.

Appreciate any input or advice you can offer.

Congrats are in order mate. It's a tough one, but if you want to give those little kribs the best shot at survival, I'd say pull the other fish out. The cardinals and cories, they'll only cause trouble for the fry.

If you're not fussed about the numbers, then just leave everything as is and let nature take its course. But, have the eggs hatched yet? Those cories are notorious egg-munchers, so you might want to keep an eye on that.

Yeah they've hatched alright.

Thanks for the advice, think I'll pull the other fish out to give the little ones a better chance.

http/db.tt/mPf5qzZ8, here's a pic of Ma & Pops with the fry. Fingers crossed the link works.

Sorted the fish out now, all moved to my 240ltr for the time being, might just have to treat myself to another tank.
