A twin spot hogfish query
A twin spot hogfish query
Been curious about how these fish get along with crustaceans. Added some new hermits a day ago and my hogfish is really taking an interest in them - even had a go at one's legs.
Re: A twin spot hogfish query
I'm pretty sure the scientific name is Bodianus bimaculatus, but I've always known them as candy hogfish. Generally considered reef-safe, although, you know how that goes - doesn't mean they'll always play by the rules.
Re: A twin spot hogfish query
Yeah, that's the one. I had read they were supposed to be "reef safe" as well, just wondering if anyone's had any issues with them in the past. Found two empty shells from yesterday's hermits today, so either they've upgraded to new homes or become someone's lunch.
Re: A twin spot hogfish query
I've had mates with them, no issues to report. Maybe you just got the bold type, eh.
Re: A twin spot hogfish query
Had one of these hogfish before, was all good initially. Then its demeanor changed, became quite aggressive. Luckily, it never bothered my shrimp or CUC, though.
