Determining the sex of your german blue ram
Determining the sex of your german blue ram
Another sexing post, but I'm stumped with my GBR - supposedly a male and female, but I'm not convinced, anyone able to lend a hand? TIA
Re: Determining the sex of your german blue ram
When it comes to sexing your GBR, one thing to look out for is the belly coloration - females tend to develop a pink belly as they mature and are happy with their environment, which isn't typically seen in males.
If you're looking to breed cichlids in the future, I'd recommend starting with a group of 8-10 fish and letting them grow together in the same tank. This allows them to form their own pairs naturally, and then you can either move the paired fish to a separate tank or rehome the others and leave the pair behind.

My GBR, I think I've got a male on top and a female on the bottom - based on the belly color, I'm assuming the one with the pink belly is the female and the one without is the male.
