Yeah, I gave up on trying to grow anything that needs soft water. My tap is liquid rock, so I stick to plants that can handle it. Saves me a lot of headaches.

Anyone have tips for keeping Bucephalandra happy? I've got a few varieties, but they're not growing as fast as I'd like. Maybe they need more flow or something.

Buce is slow-growing by nature, but it does seem to prefer higher flow. I've got mine near my filter output, and it's doing well. Just don't bury the rhizome, or it'll rot.

I've had luck with Buce in low-light areas too. It's not a fast grower, but it's steady. Plus, the colors are worth the wait.

I just glue Buce to rocks and forget about it. Seems to work. If it's not dying, I'm happy. Low expectations are key with this hobby sometimes.

That's fair. Not every plant has to be a showstopper. Sometimes it's nice to have something that just chills and does its thing without demanding attention.

Agreed. My Anubias has been in the same spot for years, barely growing but not dying either. It's the definition of low-maintenance.

Anubias is the ultimate set-it-and-forget-it plant. I've got some that's been through multiple tank rescapes and still looks the same. Can't beat that durability.

Meanwhile, I'm over here killing Duckweed. How does anyone kill Duckweed? It's supposed to be the herpes of the aquarium world, but I managed to wipe it out. Still not sure how.

That's impressive in the worst way. Duckweed usually survives nuclear war. Maybe your fish ate it all? My Goldfish go nuts for the stuff.
