Best corals for a nano tank
Best corals for a nano tank
I'm setting up a 10-gallon nano tank and wanna know which corals are gonna thrive. Heard Zoanthids are chill, but what about LPS like Duncanopsammia? My lighting's a Kessil A80, and I do weekly 20% water changes with Red Sea Coral Pro.

Zoanthids are solid for nanos, yeah. Duncans can work too if you keep your params stable. What's your nitrate level at? They're kinda picky about that.

For a 10-gallon, I'd stick with softies like Mushrooms or GSP. They're hardy and won't mess with your water chemistry too much. My GSP's been growing like crazy under similar lighting.

Yep, GSP's a great call. Just watch out, it can take over if you're not careful. Maybe put it on a separate rock.oceanblue2 wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 12:42 am For a 10-gallon, I'd stick with softies like Mushrooms or GSP. I've got a 5-gallon with some Ricordea and they're doing fine. Not sure about Duncans though, never tried 'em in a nano.
Re: Best corals for a nano tank
Acans are another good LPS option. They don't need crazy flow and can handle a bit of parameter swing. Just feed 'em some mysis once a week.
Re: Best corals for a nano tank
My nano's got a mix of Zoas and a small Acan colony. The Zoas are spreading fast, but the Acan's growing slower. Maybe it's my light, though.

Duncans can work in a nano if you're diligent with maintenance. They need consistent calcium and alkalinity levels. What's your dosing routine like?

Thanks for the tips, everyone. Gonna start with Zoas and maybe a small Duncan if I can keep my nitrates in check.
