For real, glue is cheap and easy. No need to reinvent the wheel, my dude.

Has anyone had issues with glue turning white underwater? My tank's got a black background, and it stands out like a sore thumb.

Yep, that's normal. The white haze fades over time, but if it bugs you, try hiding it with coralline algae growth or positioning the frag where it's less visible.
