You've got a great setup for the Mandarin with that amount of live rock, Scott. I think the pods will really take off. Having the culture will make it easy to keep the population topped up in the tank. A mandarin should really thrive in that environment, it's perfect.
How did you get on with the pod culture, did it go smoothly? Have you tried feeding the Mandarin in a jar or a cave for the frozen food, I've heard that can work really well.

hi
i cant find the mandy today, i've put pods and brine shrimp in but she's nowhere to be seen, i'm getting a bit worried, but you never know, fingers crossed she's just hiding somewhere.

Depending on how your rock is set up, she might be hiding from view, like Seffie's which only comes out at dusk. Having a pair can make them more active, mine are always out and about because they've got each other. What size was your mandarin when you picked her up, Scott?
Re: seeking assistance with a pressing matter
hi she was about 2.5" when i got her but really skinny, could see all her bones, been in the invert tank at lfs, looked better yestarday but cant find her today, wife and kids love her but no ones seen her, i've looked through the egg crate at the side but nothing, can see right through to the other side, just hope shes hiding somewhere.
Re: seeking assistance with a pressing matter
They usually thrive in coflake tanks with no fishy pod predators.
If you can see behind the rocks, I'm not liking the sound of it.
My first one went belly up in plain sight, managed to get it out quick, think that's why it worked.
Mandarins are always on the move, that's how they find food, if they're too weak to move, it's usually not looking good.
Sorry Scott, hope I'm wrong.
