signs of stress in Betta fish
signs of stress in Betta fish
I've noticed my betta acting weird lately, like clamping his fins and hiding more than usual. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5 nitrate. Tank is 5 gallons, heated to 78, filtered with a sponge. Anyone know what else could be stressing him out?

Maybe check the lighting. Too bright or too long can stress them. Mine did better when I cut the light to 6 hours.

Yo, my dude was the same till I moved his tank away from the window. Sunlight was messing with his vibe, now he's chill.
Re: signs of stress in Betta fish
Clamped fins are a classic stress sign. How often do you do water changes? Even with good params, buildup can irritate them.
Re: signs of stress in Betta fish
Mine hated the filter flow. Had to baffle it with a sponge. Now he's way happier, no more hiding.
Re: signs of stress in Betta fish
Could be boredom. Try adding some live plants or floating logs. Mine perks up when I switch things around a bit.

Y'all forgetting about temp swings. Heater working right? My guy was sketchy till I got a new one.
Re: signs of stress in Betta fish
Thanks for the tips, everyone. Gonna try reducing the light and checking the heater. Appreciate the help!
