Decorating a Betta tank on a budget
Re: Decorating a Betta tank on a budget
Don't forget about floating plants like duckweed or salvinia. They're usually free if you ask around in local fish groups. My betta loves the shade they provide, and they help keep the water clean.

If you're near a beach, seashells can work too. Just boil 'em first to kill any nasties. I've used small shells as little caves, and my betta seems to like 'em. Just avoid anything too sharp.

I've seen people use Lego bricks for decor. As long as they're clean and don't have small parts, they're safe. My kid's old Legos are now part of our betta's tank, and he loves swimming around 'em.

Thanks for all the ideas, everyone! Gonna hit up the dollar store and see what I can find. Maybe try the DIY background too.
