Help with betta's injured fin

Post by pianove »

Hey guys, I'm kinda worried my betta hurt her fin. She's always squeezing between the plants, and I'm thinking maybe she got it caught. Should I just leave it be and hope it heals on its own? Thanks

Just keep that water pristine, and your betta should be alright.

Yeah that makes sense, thanks for the advice. Clean water's gotta be the way to go, I'll make sure to keep on top of that.

Daily water changes will help a lot, and since it's just a rip, it should heal quickly.

I'd also recommend swapping out those fake plants and any sharp-edged decor for some live plants. Not only do live plants look better and are great for the tank, but they're also gentler on your betta's fins. Given her habit of pushing herself into the plants, it's likely the fake ones will keep causing her problems if you don't replace them.

Tears in the fins can leave her vulnerable to infections or fin rot, so it's worth making the switch to prevent it from happening again. As for now, keeping the water clean and doing frequent water changes is definitely the way to go. Hope her fin heals quickly - she's a stunning betta, love that metallic body and copper fins.

I completely agree with @belleora, switching to live plants or silk alternatives would be a great idea. Those plastic plants can be really harsh on your betta's fins, I mean they're super hard and sharp, it's no wonder she got injured.
