How to choose a filter for a Betta tank
Setting up a new tank for my betta and need advice on filters. He's in a 5 gallon, no tankmates. What's the best filter type that won't stress him out?

I'd go with a sponge filter, man. They're chill and won't mess with the flow too much. Bettas hate strong currents, so keep it gentle.

Sponge filters are great, but if you wanna keep it clean without much hassle, a small hang-on-back with adjustable flow works too. Just baffle the output with a sponge or something.

Yep, sponge filters are solid. Plus, they're cheap and easy to maintain. Just gotta squeeze 'em in tank water during water changes.

I've got a 10 gallon with a sponge filter and my betta's vibin'. No issues, water stays clear. Just make sure you cycle it first, dude.

If you're worried about flow, you can also try an internal filter with a spray bar. It spreads the current out so it's not too intense. Works like a charm in my setup.

Sponge filters are biologically efficient and provide excellent surface area for beneficial bacteria. They're ideal for bettas due to their low flow and simplicity. Just ensure proper aeration.

I've used both sponge and hang-on-back filters. Sponge is quieter and easier, but the hang-on-back does a better job if you have plants or debris. Depends on your setup.
