feedback on my 40-gallon african tank

Post by dawnsea »

Just got my 40 gal tank up and running, trying to do that one-of-a-kind thing with different species.
Got a few in there already - 2 socolofi, 1 red zebra, 1 yellow lab, 1 acei, 1 jewel, and 3 danio.
All these fish are still young, no idea what sex they are yet.
The tank's got plenty of rocks and hiding spots, so I'm thinking maybe I can add a few more?

Honestly, I think your tank is too small for this mix of fish. Danios aren't a good fit here, they'll likely get eaten.

What's the tank's footprint. 40 gallons can be limiting for most African cichlids. A small breeding group of labs or ps. saulosi might work. A single breeding pair of jewels could work with danios, but it's a stretch.
