Best food for corydoras
Best food for corydoras
I've been keeping corydoras for a while now, but I'm not sure if I'm feeding them the best diet. What do you guys recommend for optimal growth and health? I've been using sinking pellets, but I've heard mixed reviews.
Re: Best food for corydoras
Sinking pellets are decent, but corys really thrive on variety. I alternate between frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, and high-quality sinking wafers. They go nuts for the bloodworms, lol. Just make sure whatever you use sinks fast enough for them to catch it before other fish hog it all.
Re: Best food for corydoras
I've had great results with Hikari sinking wafers. They're packed with nutrients and my corys seem to love them. I also toss in some blanched zucchini or cucumber once a week for extra fiber. Just remove any uneaten veggies after a few hours to avoid messing with water quality.

Agree with stormer99 on the Hikari wafers. They're a solid choice. I also supplement with live blackworms occasionally. My corys are super active and their colors really pop since I started this routine. Just be careful with live food to avoid introducing parasites.
Re: Best food for corydoras
I'm new to corys and this is super helpful! Gonna try the bloodworms and wafers combo. Do you think they'd like freeze-dried daphnia too?
Re: Best food for corydoras
Freeze-dried daphnia can work, but rehydrate it first or it might cause bloating. I soak mine in tank water for a few minutes before feeding. My corys seem to prefer it that way, and it's easier on their digestive system.

Yep, variety is key. I'd add that Repashy gel food is another great option. It's packed with nutrients and sinks right to the bottom where corys can find it easily.kayoko wrote: ↑Tue Jun 10, 2025 9:49 am Sinking pellets are decent, but corys really thrive on variety. Re: Best food for corydoras
I've been using a mix of sinking pellets and frozen foods for years, and my corys are thriving. One tip: feed them after lights out if you have aggressive tankmates. Corys are more active at night and this gives them a better chance to eat in peace.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. I'll definitely try adding more variety and maybe some Repashy gel food. Appreciate the help!
