red top ndumbi growth and mature size information

Post by mindsphere »

I got some red top ndunbi a bit ago as small juvies, the male's just started to colour up a bit and he's about 1.5 inch now, the female's still only about an inch but she looks like she's holding, is it possible at this size or could be something medical going on, all the signs are there, like hiding in the rocks and not eating, seems like she's holding to me, just wondering if it's possible at this size.

Red top ndunbi are a dwarf species, despite the fact they can grow over 5 inches. Mine bred at a similar size, so you shouldn't have any issues. I've found they're incredibly colorful, but they do get aggressive as they mature. I keep mine with larger, more aggressive mbuna and it works out just fine.

Thanks for the info, good to know they can breed at a small size, I'll keep an eye on them.

That's awesome, just had my female ndunbi holding at only about an inch in length, now I know it's possible at that size.
