A goodbye to bucky

Post by TimeLord »

My beautiful blue orchid betta, stompery Barnes, passed away on Saturday. I had left him in my dad's care while I was on vacation, and when I came back, he was gone.

stompery lived in a 10-gallon divided tank with my purple and blue crowntail, Jarvis. Luckily, Jarvis is doing great - active and curious. I'm planning to add more live plants to their tank soon.

stompery was definitely one of my favorite bettas. I even had a dream last night that he was still alive.

Farewell, stompery! It was an amazing experience taking care of you. I'll take some time to grieve, then start looking for the perfect new betta.

@AJE, @kingrise, you guys probably remember stompery from my time on Fishlore, right?

@Cobyx, I wanted to post a picture of him, but I'm having trouble - how do I do that? It's not working for me.

Sorry to hear about stompery. He had a great life in your 10 gallon tank with Jarvis, and I'm sure he loved all the care you gave him. May he rest in peace, and I'm glad you have some good memories of him.

Those names are awesome, total Marvel fanboy vibes. If you want your next betta to be basically immortal, name him Red Skull or Herr Schmidt – nobody stays dead in the Marvel universe, right? And I just had another idea, a Glass Catfish named Vision would be pretty cool.

Hold up, I had to come back and edit this. Your name and the betta's names are actually from the same universe – stompery's the Winter Soldier, bro. He lives on through you, that's some deep stuff. No wonder you had that dream about him, it's like he's still with you. As for your dad, well, let's just say "It's clobberin' time" – that's all I'm saying.

My blue orchid fin_tank stompery Barnes left us on Saturday. I'd gone on vacation, trusted my dad with his care. Returned home to find he was gone.

Btw, @Cobyx, how do I post a picture of him? Not letting me.

He had a great life, indeed. My tank was always well-equipped for him - never less than 5.5 gallons, always with a filter and a heater to keep him comfortable.

I'm thinking of naming my next betta Sebastkento4 Stan, or maybe James Bucannan Barnes - I'd just call him James for short. Another option is Winter Soldier, or its Russkento4 translation. I'm also considering stompery II as a tribute. Since Jarvis is male and they'll be sharing the tank, I need a male replacement. If Jarvis were female, I'd get a female and name her Natasha.

My condolences, TimeLord. Losing a beloved pet is never easy, especially one as dear as stompery. May he rest in peace, and I'm sure he had an amazing life in your care.

Sorry to hear about your loss, TimeLord. I'm sure stompery was an amazing betta. What color was he, by the way - more pink, purple, or blue?

Someone should start a thread on fish names. I'm a fan of movie monsters. Winter Soldier, no disrespect was meant, I feel you on the loss of a pet fish, it's tough.

Sorry for your response. I'm glad you're interested in the details of my late betta, stompery. To answer your question, he was indeed a blue betta, with a beautiful vibrant color. If you're interested in seeing more of him, I have a few posts on fishlore with pictures and stories about him.
