Stocking ideas for 105-liter tank

Post by marckid »

I've got a 105-liter tank cycling right now and I'm brainstorming stocking ideas. I'm leaning toward a community setup but want something unique. Any suggestions for fish that'll thrive in this size?

A 105-liter gives you decent options. For a community tank, consider a school of 10-12 Ember Tetras, 6-8 Corydoras Pygmaeus, and a centerpiece like a pair of Apistogramma. Just make sure your water params are stable, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and keep the temp around 25-26°C.

Yo, if you wanna go wild, throw in some Chili Rasboras and a few Sparkling Gouramis. They're tiny but pack a punch color-wise. Just watch the filtration, these guys don't like strong flow.

I'd second this but add that Apistos can be territorial. If you go that route, provide plenty of hiding spots with driftwood and plants like Java Fern or Anubias.

Ooh, I love this size tank! You could do a cool nano species mix like Celestial Pearl Danios and some shrimp. They're super chill together and the shrimp help keep things clean.

If you're into oddballs, consider a small group of Kuhli Loaches. They're fun to watch and do great in a planted tank. Just make sure your substrate is soft, they love to burrow.

For a low-maintenance option, a single species tank with a big school of Harlequin Rasboras would look stunning. They're hardy and their schooling behavior is mesmerizing.

I'm kinda new to this, but what about Guppies? They're colorful and easy to care for, right?

Thanks for all the ideas, everyone! I'm really digging the nano species mix and the Apisto suggestion. Gonna do some more research on those.

Guppies are a solid choice for beginners, but they breed like crazy. If you go that route, be prepared for population control or stick to males only.
