New corydoras refusing food
New corydoras refusing food
Just added three new Corydoras to my 20 gallon planted tank, but they're not touching the sinking wafers or frozen bloodworms. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate, temp at 76F. Tankmates are six neon tetras and a betta. Any ideas why they're not eating?
Re: New corydoras refusing food
Corydoras can be shy when first introduced. Try feeding after lights out or using live foods like blackworms to entice them. Also, check if the betta is intimidating them during feeding.
Re: New corydoras refusing food
Yep, bettas can be jerks sometimes. Mine used to flare at the corys until I moved him to another tank. Maybe try a feeding dish so the food doesn't get lost in the substrate.
Re: New corydoras refusing food
Dude, my corys were the same way when I first got 'em. Took like three days before they chilled out and started eating. Maybe just give 'em time?
Re: New corydoras refusing food
Agreed. Stress from transport can mess with their appetite. Keep the lights low and avoid sudden movements near the tank.
Re: New corydoras refusing food
Corydoras are more likely to eat in a group. If you only have three, consider adding a few more to reduce stress. Also, ensure the substrate isn't too sharp for their barbels.
Re: New corydoras refusing food
Mine refused food until I switched to Repashy Soilent Green. They go nuts for it now. Maybe try a gel food if wafers aren't working.
Re: New corydoras refusing food
Check the expiration date on your food. Old wafers lose their smell, and corys rely heavily on scent to find food.

Re: New corydoras refusing food
If the betta's the issue, try distracting him with floating pellets at one end while you feed the corys at the other. Worked for my tank.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I'll try feeding at night and maybe grab some Repashy. Appreciate the help!
