how many fish in your aquarium?

Post by Auric12 »

hello all,

got a 140L tank and was wondering how many fish i could fit in it, i've got

1 x tomato clownfish (medium size)
3 x green cromis (small)
2 x blue damels (small)

somebody told me to lay all the fish out at full length, thats the number you can have, but as you know, fish are all different sizes, so not sure how many more i can have or what other fish would be good with these, been a while since i've added any new ones, waiting for some advice

thanks for your help

To be honest, it really depends on your filtration system. I'd say some people might think your tank is already full, or even that it's too small for a tomato clownfish. I'd have to agree with that, unless you're using a top-notch setup with a sump, skimmer, and plenty of liverock. There's no one-size-fits-all rule for marine tanks and stocking levels. If I were to add anything to a tank that size, I'd probably go for small gobies - but even then, it's a gamble, given the aggressive nature of the fish you've already got.

hey dreamon7

got a decent amount of live rock, dont know exact weight but its a fair bit. think its around 22 or 24 kg or something.

filters are aquaclare 70 and a fuval 205, they seem to be doing the job alright. tank is around 125 gallon, need 5 of them 25 litre drums to fill it, if that makes sense.

cheers matt

Blimey, I could've sworn you said 140L, not 125 gallon, that's a fair difference innit.

it is only 125l if it takes 5 25l tubs of ro to fill it

personally i would return the tomato clown and look at stocking fish that stay small, like common clowns, fire fish, gobies and cardinals, they will look a lot more natural with the swimming room they need
