R.I.P. Blue Diamond

Post by Oceanboy »

I was feeding the fish and having breakfast this morning when I noticed my large Blue Diamond was nowhere to be seen. I eventually found him behind the aquarium stand - he'd jumped out overnight and didn't make it.

I've got a cover on the way from Clear View Lids, but it still hasn't shipped. I cut a piece of plexiglass to use as a temporary cover, but it's a real pain to handle and makes a mess every time I take it off and put it back on. Last night, after cleaning the tank, I just didn't feel like dealing with it - we'd had family over all day and it was late. I wish I had, though. That Blue Diamond was pairing up with one of my Leopard discus, and now he's gone.

Thanks Pat, just another tough lesson to add to the discus notebook - lots to learn with these guys.

Re: R.I.P. Blue Diamond

Sorry to hear about your loss. I've had a similar experience with one of mine jumping through a small gap before. Luckily, I spotted him just in time, after seeing water on the wall where he'd glanced off. I was fortunate to rescue him, even if it meant digging through a junk tote.
