care and feeding of the clarion angelfish

Post by talonix »

hi everyone, my local fish store just got a Clarion angelfish back from a customer due to aggression issues in their tank, so i'm wondering if anyone has experience keeping these fish.

my lfs is pretty stumped, they can't seem to find much info on them and i'm curious to know more. if you know of any places that sell them or have some knowledge to share, i'd really appreciate it.

i've gotta admit, i'm pretty interested in getting one myself, so any help would be great.

i'm not paying that, thought they were around a grand, not 3. lost my queen angel last week, had her for 9 years, she was reef safe, no issues with corals. she was a great fish, rip. thanks for the info ben, regards scott

Sorry to hear that, really feel for you losing your queen.

I'm not entirely sure about the Clarion angelfish, but I do recall seeing an ad for a juvie going for $2999, that's a pretty steep price if you ask me.

Still wouldn't pay that, £1000 is my limit, if it's worth it I'll consider it.

Scott, you're a man of mystery, huh. Must be raking it in to afford those pricey fish. I'm guessing... international businessman, or maybe something a bit more... illicit? A girl can dream, right? Seffie x

I'm more than happy to join the cue for a stunning Solitaire, preferably F grade but I'd be more than content with a VVS1, around 2-3 carats - that would truly make my year sparkle.

By the way, I did a quick check and that diamond would set me back a pretty penny, in the region of £10,000 plus, but hey, a girl can dream, right?

Scott's got some deep pockets, that's for sure. I'm guessing he's got a high-rolling job, maybe something in finance or law. He's only a couple of years older than me, so I'm curious to know how he's managed to afford such pricey fish. International diamond thief, haha, a girl can dream, right?

I think I found some info on the Clarion angelfish - it's on Wet Web Media, and here's the link:

The article says it's a large fish that can grow up to 6 inches in length, and it's native to the eastern Pacific, specifically around the Clarion Islands - hence the name.

It's a pretty rare fish in the hobby, and it's considered a deep-water species. The article says it's a bit of a challenge to keep, and it requires a large tank with plenty of swimming space and strong water flow.

It's also a bit of a picky eater, and it needs a varied diet that includes meaty foods like brine shrimp and mysis shrimp. The article says it's not a good choice for beginners, and it's best suited for experienced hobbyists who have a lot of experience with large, deep-water fish.

As for the aggression issue, the article says it's a territorial fish and it can be a bit aggressive towards other fish, especially if they're not big enough or if they're too similar in appearance. It's best to keep it with other large, peaceful fish that won't compete with it for food or space.

I'm not sure if this helps, but I thought I'd share the info I found.
