Water wisteria trimming advice
Water wisteria trimming advice
My Water Wisteria is getting out of control. How often should I trim it to keep it healthy but not too bushy? It's in a 20-gallon tank with moderate lighting and CO2.
Re: Water wisteria trimming advice
Trimming Water Wisteria depends on your tank conditions. With CO2 and moderate light, it grows fast. I trim mine every 2 weeks, cutting just above a leaf node. This encourages bushier growth. Make sure your scissors are clean to avoid infections.
Re: Water wisteria trimming advice
I agree with Piccly. Regular trimming keeps it tidy. If you let it go too long, the lower leaves can melt from lack of light. I've had that happen in my 30-gallon. How's your nutrient dosing?
Re: Water wisteria trimming advice
Thanks for the tips. I dose Thrive twice a week. Should I adjust that after trimming?
Re: Water wisteria trimming advice
I trim mine every 3 weeks, but my light's low. It's chill, grows slower. Maybe try trimming less if you don't wanna deal with it as often.
Re: Water wisteria trimming advice
Yo, I just hack mine back whenever it looks messy. Ain't got CO2, so it's slow anyway. Works for me, but my tank's a bit of a jungle vibe.
Re: Water wisteria trimming advice
How do you dispose of the trimmings? I always feel bad throwing them out.
Re: Water wisteria trimming advice
If you're not into selling, you can replant the trimmings. Just stick 'em back into the substrate. They'll root pretty quick with your setup.
