Lighting: Split or full coverage?

I've only used full coverage, but my tank is smaller. Do you think split lighting would work better for a 20-gallon?

For a 20-gallon, full coverage is usually fine unless you've got a mix of high and low light plants. What's your plant list look like?

Either way, you gotta keep an eye on the algae. My first planted tank turned into a green mess because I didn't balance the light right.
