Hey everyone, just wanted to share this video of my kribensis and get your thoughts - is the female exhibiting spawning behaviour. Only the girl does it in the video, but I've seen the male do it too, just not caught it on camera yet.

Lovely pair. What do you mean exactly by spawning behaviour? Feed them well and they'll spawn pretty soon.

The shaking in the tube, that's what I was on about - she was doing that and I only just got the male today from my lfs, and as soon as he went in, they both lit up with colour, and I've had eggs from this female before, but sadly they got eaten.

Also what foods would be best for them to spawn, I've had eggs from the female before but they got eaten

I'm assuming you're referring to around 58 seconds in, where she's trying to move the gravel but not quite managing it. That's not typically spawning behaviour, though. As for food, live stuff like bloodworm, tubifex, or daphnia is usually best. That being said, they're not too fussy, so a good quality dry food should also do the trick. By the way, what happened to the male you had before?

Yeah, second 58 is exactly what I was talking about, and fluxx, do you think I should change the gravel to a glass bottom so she can move around more easily. I've read mixed things about bloodworm, some people say it's bad for them, so I'm not sure what to think. Is frozen food a good alternative too? If I were to get live food, how would I store it so I don't have to keep going out to get those little tubes every couple of days?

Her first partner was in my community tank with some bigger, more aggressive fish and he started getting violent with them, I think they just got tired of it and killed him. Now she's with her second partner in a 50-litre tank with six small platies, it's a much better setup for them. It's a shame about the other male, he was really beautiful.

Frozen foods are an excellent alternative, they're just as good. The issue with live foods is that they don't keep for long, so it's best to store them properly - change the water regularly and keep them at a temperature of 4°C.
