discus breeding tank ph stability
Re: discus breeding tank ph stability
Ain't got time for all that. I just use Seachem Acid Buffer, dose it with every WC. pH stays put, no fuss.
Re: discus breeding tank ph stability
Buffers are sketchy long-term. Seen too many crashes. Better to fix the root cause, like turret said with the peat pellets. Cheap and effective.
Re: discus breeding tank ph stability
Yo, throw some oyster shells in a media bag. Cheap, easy, and they dissolve slow. My pH's been steady at 6.8 for months. 40-gallon breeder, canister filter, no driftwood.
Re: discus breeding tank ph stability
Honestly, if they're not laying, pH might not even be the issue. How old's the pair? Mine didn't spawn till they hit 18 months, even with perfect water.
Re: discus breeding tank ph stability
Try upping the temp to 88°F. Sometimes that kicks 'em into gear. My pair only lays when it's toasty.
