I've got a 100 Gal tank that's been dedicated to South American cichlids for ages, and an 80 Gal Planted tank on the side. Only exception was a buffalo head cichlid, my one and only African cichlid experience.
Thinking of shaking things up with the 100 Gal, but I'm on the fence. Worth considering African cichlids? What draws you to them?

Honestly, I think it's worth considering, but it really comes down to what you're looking for. Every fish is unique and fascinating in its own way. Since your tank is already a good size for African cichlids, I'd say that's a plus. The real question for me would be, can you easily replicate the right water parameters and temperature they need?frosty42 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 10:56 am I've got a 100 Gal tank that's been dedicated to South American cichlids for ages, and an 80 Gal Planted tank on the side.
