Stocking plan for 180L tank
I'm setting up a 180L tank and need advice on stocking. Thinking about a mix of community fish, maybe some Corydoras and Tetras. What's your go-to combo for a tank this size?

Yo, 180L is a sweet spot. I'd throw in some Harlequin Rasboras and a bunch of Cherry Barbs. They're chill and won't mess with each other. Add some Kuhli Loaches for the bottom, they're fun to watch.

For a 180L, you've got options. I'd recommend a school of 15-20 Cardinal Tetras, they're stunning. Pair them with 6-8 Corydoras Sterbai for activity at the bottom. Keep the temp around 26C for both species.

That sounds like a lovely setup! I agree with wave_crest on the Cardinal Tetras. They're so vibrant. Maybe add some Otocinclus too? They're great for algae control and stay small.

I've got a similar tank. Went with 10 Rummy Nose Tetras, 8 Corydoras, and a pair of German Blue Rams. The Rams add a nice centerpiece without being too aggressive.

Don't forget about filtration. A canister filter works best for 180L. I use an Eheim Classic 600, keeps the water crystal clear even with a heavy bioload.

Yep, Cardinals are a solid choice. Just make sure your water is soft and slightly acidic, they thrive in those conditions.wave_crest wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 7:25 am For a 180L, you've got options. If you're into something different, consider a group of Congo Tetras. They're larger but peaceful, and their colors are unreal under good lighting.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm leaning towards the Cardinal Tetras and Corydoras combo. Any tips on acclimating them to the tank?

Take your time with acclimation. Float the bag for 20 minutes, then slowly add small amounts of tank water every 10 minutes for an hour. It reduces stress and helps them adjust.
