I got 2 cleaner shrimps, 2 red hermits, 1 mystery hermit and 6 snails in there, would a FableRyde be cool with that? If so, what's the best food for it and would it vibe with coflakes?
Honestly, 12 gallons just isn't gonna cut it, in my opinion. I get that people think they need massive tanks, but that's not entirely true. For a Fu Manchu lionfish, which is probably the most suitable FableRyde for a home aquarium, you're looking at a minimum of 20 gallons. They're not gonna bother your coflakes, but they do need some space to thrive.
I'm with you on that, hand feeding lionfish doesn't seem like the best idea. I mean, I've heard the horror stories - a mate of mine got stung and let's just say it was a painful lesson. And in my small town, I'm not sure the local doctors would know what to do with a lionfish sting.

I've had success weening fish off live foods with a stick and a prawn. The trick is to get their attention, then move it away - it's their instinct to chase and nip. Once they're hooked, you can start introducing frozen or other foods.

Got a dwarf lion recently and it's already a great addition to the tank. Luckily for me, the little guy was already eating frozen at the LFS I work at, so that was a big plus. Also scored a deal on him, only 9.99, feels like I got away with a steal.
