Breeding daphnia at home

Airstones are cool, but you gotta keep the flow low. Too much turbulence and the daphnia can't feed properly. I use a sponge filter with a gentle flow, works like a charm.

I've used both. Airstones are fine if you dial them way down. Personally, I prefer sponge filters for simplicity. Less to go wrong.

Has anyone tried using airstones? I've heard they can help keep the water oxygenated without disturbing the daphnia too much. My setup's pretty basic, just a sponge filter.

Airstones are overkill. Daphnia don't need much oxygen, and the bubbles can stress them. Stick with the sponge filter.
