A tank of my dreams

Post by felixon »

I've always thought everyone should have their own dream tank, filled with their favorite fish.

Mine would be a mix of:

Powder blue tang, just love their vibrant color
Yellow tang, so energetic and fun to watch
Kole tang, really interesting to see their behavior
Emperor angelfish, such majestic creatures
Dwarf angelfish, their small size makes them so endearing
A school of anthias, their movement is just mesmerizing
Bluecheek blenny, always seem to be up to something
Algae blenny, great for keeping the tank clean
Mandarin, their patterns are just incredible
And 2-3 Fairy wrasse, just to add some extra color.

Not sure if all these would actually be compatible, but it would be an amazing sight.

What size tank would you need for a combination like this, or even just a mix of tangs and angels?

Would love to hear your thoughts on my dream tank, or what you'd have in yours.

It's definitely doable, but the powder blue tang would be the most challenging to keep. A setup like that would look amazing in a 6x3x3 or a 7 footer. I'd recommend keeping the powder blue in a tank smaller than 6 feet though, just to be on the safe side.

I'd agree with rileyon. Dropping the emperor angel and powder blue would make the setup more manageable. A good-sized 5ft tank could work, but to be honest, 6ft would be even better.

Here's my dream tank. I love the idea of a mix of tangs and angels. For me, it's about balance and harmony. I'd go for a mix of colors and shapes.

Would love to see a shoal of anthias, they add so much movement. Then a couple of tangs, maybe a yellow and a kole. An algae blenny would be great for keeping the tank clean. A mandarin would be a lovely addition, such a beautiful fish. And maybe a dwarf angelfish to add some variety.

Not sure about the size, but I think a 6 footer would be a good starting point. What do you guys think?

Honestly, my dream tank is basically the ocean, minus all the fishing and stuff.

I've always been drawn to the idea of a tank featuring a thriving colony of yellow headed jawfish.
Their relatively small size means tank volume isn't as crucial as surface area, allowing for a more manageable setup.
A 36x36x18 tank, roughly 100 gallons, would be more than sufficient for these intriguing fish.
Adding a school of anthias to the mix would undoubtedly create a captivating display, and possibly a single wrasse to round out the community.
