If it's not physical damage or rot, consider diet. Poor nutrition weakens fins. Are you feeding quality pellets or flakes? Frozen or live food can help boost their health.

Mine tore his fins on the intake sponge. Weird, right? Had to cover it with a finer mesh. Bettas are delicate little drama queens.
