discussing my fish

Post by bould »

Finally managed to get some snaps of my boys - they're literally the toughest fish to photograph. Except for Lezley, the show-off, he loves being in front of the camera!

Lezley - Volitans Lionfish

Yellow Tang 1

Yellow Tang 2

Mr Passer - Passer Angelfish

No tank pics, sorry - it's a mess, and you can see into the whole studio apartment, which is a bit of a disaster lol. The tank's at the foot of the bed, so I can chill and watch the fish from bed (plus I've got the Roma 125 next to the bed, Regency 120 opposite, and the Aqua One 620T on the other side of the marine tank).

Those tangs are indeed a nightmare to capture on camera. I can totally relate to the struggle. Lezley the lionfish, on the other hand, seems to be quite the poser, haha.

That Lezley, he's such a diva, always posing for the camera, what a show-off, LOL.

Gorgeous angel, by the way. We're not just after the fish pics, though - we want the whole shebang, messy room and all. Seffie x

Lovely photos. Now, let's see the tank and the studio apartment, mess and all.

Those photos are awesome, especially considering how fast those fish move.

To be honest, the tank's not looking its best and I'm having some issues that make it look even worse, but on the plus side, the water quality's actually okay for a change. I'm running it without a Protein Skimmer at the moment, but I do have a V2 Skim400 that a lovely customer gave me - the only problem is, there's no way to fit it in without making some major changes to the tank, and the owner's not keen on that. It's been running for a year without a skimmer, just marine fine gravel and a bit of liverock in arches down the middle - I call it live, but the two tangs have pretty much stripped it bare, and the angel's not helping either.

That Passer's a bit of a handful, always bullying the others, but the tangs are the real troublemakers, especially with two of them - they're always nipping at each other, more showing off than actual fighting, but the smaller one's definitely the more aggressive of the two. I only wanted one yellow tang, or maybe a yellow and a purple one, but the OH went and got two, and now they're always at each other's fins.

EDIT: And yeah, the camera's an old Nikon D50 - it was good in its day, but now it's just a battered old thing that needs a good clean, lol.
