Are there more cory catfish available?

Post by Clack »

Current setup - 29/30 gal, 12 pygmy cories, 4 pandas, 5 julii, 4 ADFs, and 4 apple snails (though one's been MIA for a couple of weeks). Tank's planted, but still maturing.

My LFS has some interesting cories in stock, and I'm wondering if I've got space for another group. The pandas are pretty social, whereas the julii are still quite shy.

Considering either venezualan black or orange cories, but only if I can accommodate a decent-sized group. If the general feeling is that my tank's already well-stocked, I'll hold off - don't want to risk overstocking. Not that it's urgent, I'm away for 10 days anyway.

To be honest, I think you're already at capacity. That being said, if you're itching for more cories, maybe it's time to consider a second tank rather than adding to this one.

Haha I do have a spare tank lying around but that's more for emergencies or if I need to relocate the ADFs in the future. To be honest, my flat's got some weird quirks, like only having one plug socket in each bedroom - it's a bit of a challenge. I did look into getting some extra sockets installed recently but then I had to remind myself to focus on one thing at a time.

I'd agree, you're pretty much at capacity, but if you do decide to add more in the future, I think it would be worth looking into some more trilneatus - they're often referred to as 'false julii' - and possibly some additional pandas to complement your existing group.

You could consider a small school of mid or upper water fish if the frogs weren't in the tank - but adding them with the frogs might cause competition for food, which could be a problem.
