What's the next step?
My planted 20-gallon has been stable for months, but I'm seeing slow growth in my Anubias and Java Fern. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate, pH 7.2. Lighting is a Fluval Plant 3.0 at 60% for 8 hours. Should I tweak the light, add ferts, or just chill?

Yo, sounds like your setup's solid but those plants are lazy. Anubias and Java Fern are slow growers anyway, but if you wanna speed things up, try upping the light to 70% and dosing a lil Seachem Flourish. Just don't go nuts with it.

I agree with dorvax. Anubias and Java Fern thrive in low to moderate light, but a slight increase might help. Also, check your potassium levels. They're often overlooked but crucial for slow growers.

Honestly, I'd just let them vibe. My Anubias took forever to grow, but now they're huge. Sometimes plants just do their own thing. Maybe toss in a root tab if you're impatient, but no rush.

Yep, patience is key. I've had Java Fern take a year to settle in. If your water's stable and the plants aren't melting, they'll get there. Root tabs are a good call if you're using inert substrate.

I'm new to plants, but my Anubias started growing faster when I added a bit of CO2. Not a full system, just liquid CO2 booster. Might be worth a shot if you're not already using it.

Liquid CO2 can help, but it's hit or miss. If you're gonna try it, start with half the recommended dose. Some plants hate the stuff, but Anubias usually tolerates it okay.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I'll try bumping the light to 70% and adding a bit of Flourish. If that doesn't help, maybe I'll look into root tabs or liquid CO2.

Keep us posted on how it goes. It's always helpful to see what works for others in similar setups. And remember, slow growth isn't always a bad thing. It often means less maintenance in the long run.

Yeah, let us know. And don't stress if it takes a minute. Plants got their own schedule, like my ex. Never on time but eventually show up.
