Mandarin draggonette and yellow prawn goby compatibility?

Post by wolfden »

Considering the tank size, I'd say it's doable to keep a Draggonette with a Goby in a 90 gallon, but I'd like to know more about your setup.

Honestly, I'm no expert on Mandarins, but I do know they're pretty demanding when it comes to their environment. From what I've gathered, they need a super mature tank - we're talking a year or more of setup - or they risk going hungry.

A 90g is a solid choice for a Draggonette, but the real key is having a mature tank with a robust pod population. Many folks, even with tanks this size, swear by setup refugiums to cultivate pods for their Draggonette. It's an amazing fish, just be prepared to cater to its specific dietary needs. Don't take a local fish store's word for it that it'll eat alternative foods - you need to witness it eating with your own eyes. Never bring a Draggonette home without seeing it eat first.
